Hamstead Artist 60M Head and matching Cab with 15" Speaker
Artist 60M features our unique Output Power selection which enables operation in 60, 20, or 7 watt modes. From the sheer volume and presence of 60 watts with huge amounts of clean headroom on tap, to the more easily driven 20 watt mode; the amp can then be attenuated down in 7 watt mode, which still provides all the harmonic depth of a Mulecaster, but at low volumes.
The amplifier features our Signature Tremolo and Reverb circuits and a foot-switchable 'Voice' mode, adding presence and bite to the upper midrange to really highlight the vocal frequency range.
An analogue valve amplifier designed by Peter Hamstead.
Hand-built at the Hamstead labs in Cambridgeshire, Great Britain.
Playing a Mule Guitar is frankly a surreal experience. It is of course a guitar in a very familiar form, but at the same time feels like picking up a totally different instrument. This is also true for the sound; with a resonance and depth to the harmonic structure which is very individual and complex.
After meeting Matt at NAMM 2020 it wasn’t long before a Mulecaster was plugged into an Artist 60 and he pitched the idea of a collaborative project using one of his creations to inspire our own - to engineer an amplifier that communicates the ‘New Sound of Steel’.
· Made for the ‘New Sound of Steel’
· Single Channel EL34 amplifier
· 60, 20, & 7 Watt Power Modes
· Incredible Versatility
· Signature Reverb & Tremolo Circuits
· 4-Way Quad Footswitch Included
· Line Level FX Loop
· Head with matching 1x15” Cabinet
It is this ‘New Sound of Steel’ that we have endeavoured to present in the purest way possible. Using the core of our Artist 60+RT amplifier as the platform and Peter Hamstead’s electronic expertise, we’ve created a circuit that truly balances the essence of the Mulecaster; complex harmonics and raw power, weight and touch sensitivity, warmth and clarity.
The amplifier and 1x15” cabinet were voiced as one using barely any test equipment, just informed judgements and us reaching towards the goal of when the guitar really felt like it could sing.
